Exciting times ahead for Trafford Golf Centre as major expansion plans announced

Trafford Golf Centre, Europe’s premier golf practice facility and home to the UK’s largest golf academy, has announced ambitious expansion plans backed by a significant investment. The development will enhance the experience for golfers, families and leisure seekers alike, with major improvements and expanded capacity across the site.

The country’s most popular golf practice and family-focused leisure facility has seen incredible growth in recent years. With over 23 million golf balls hit annually and up to 2,000 daily visitors, the centre is now taking a bold step forward to meet demand and further enhance its offering.

The works will include:

• A stunning three-storey, 15-bay West Wing with modern ‘lounge bay’ designs, perfect for a premium and comfortable practice experience.

• A three-storey, six-bay East Wing which will be home to The Academy, the country’s largest golf improvement centre.

• The expansion will create 79 hitting bays to help reduce waiting times and welcome even more visitors.

• Bespoke range outfield design to create a fun and engaging target area to suit a golfers practice and entertainment needs.

• Enhanced perimeter fencing for safety and security.

• Refreshed and modernised existing bays to improve the drive, dine and drink in-bay experience, creating a truly world-class destination.

These new developments are a direct response to the incredible demand we’ve seen, and we can’t wait to welcome even more visitors to enjoy everything we have to offer.”

To enable the construction works to take place, the driving range will close for a short period from 5th January 2026. The closure is expected to last around twelve weeks, with a full reopening from April onwards. During this time, The Clubhouse,  the American Golf store, The Academy (for golf lessons) and Dino Falls Adventure Golf will remain open 8am – 8pm (Academy 10pm), ensuring visitors can still enjoy much of what Trafford Golf Centre has to offer while improvements are underway.

• When will the building work start?

  Some works have already started on site to allow for construction to begin in January 2026.

• Will the driving range bays be closed?

  Yes. To allow the works to take place safely, the driving range will close from 5 January 2026 for approximately 12 weeks, with a phased reopening planned for April 2026.

• What will remain open during the closure?

  You’ll still be able to enjoy:

  • The Clubhouse Bar & Kitchen (8am – 8pm)

  • American Golf store (8am – 8pm)

  • The Academy (golf lessons will continue as normal, hitting into a net) (8am – 10pm)

  • Dino Falls Adventure Golf (8am – 8pm)

  All other parts of the venue, apart from the driving range bays, will remain open 8am – 8pm (Academy 10pm)

• Can I still book lessons during the closure?

  Yes. The Academy will continue to operate throughout the construction period, and individual lessons will run with balls being hit into an indoor net, ball tracking software will capture ball flight. Group coaching classes will be suspended during this time. Group coaching classes may be suspended during this time. Please speak to your coach.

• Will Dino Falls Adventure Golf be affected?

  No. Dino Falls Adventure Golf will remain open 8am – 8pm throughout the works.

• Why does the driving range need to close?

  The scale of the upgrade includes major refurbishment works to each bay, outfield target and fencing works, structural work, new multi-storey extensions, and improvements across the site. For your safety – and to allow our team and contractors the space required – a temporary closure is essential.

• Will the car park or entrance be affected?

  The main entrance and car park will remain open. If any temporary adjustments are needed, we will communicate these in advance via our website and social channels.

• How can I get updates on progress?
